I’m leaving Istanbul in 2 days, so it’s time for a few goodbye parties…
Last night I said goodbye to a Turkish friend, Anil.
He was the first guy I had dinner with when I rolled into Istanbul in my superhero costume 2 months ago and he has been such a huge help during my time in the city.

For example, he let me use his work address so that people like that wonderful Serbian family I wrote about yesterday could send me my own SuperCyclingMan woolly hat in the post #priceless. My family have also been able to deliver a few priceless things to, including a block of Cadburys Turkish Delight chocolate (!) and a family photo to put in my wallet 🙂
Sometimes having no address can be a bit of a blessing, but it can also make life quite hard! Small things, like giving me an address so that I could easily pick up post here has made a HUGE difference during my time in Istanbul.
So, cheers to Anil. I raise my pint of Turkish yoghurty Ayran drink to you, dip my big schnoz in it and want to say a very large “çok teÅŸekkürler” (THANK YOU) to you.
(December 17th Istanbul – it’s got a little bit colder since the first pictures in October!)

One of many Turkish superheroes who have made my fondness of this city and country even bigger than it was before…if that was possible 🙂

Are you coming to Izmir?
Not this time, but I plan to come back through Turkey in around 3 years on the way back to London after Africa. I would love to go to Izmir. Many people have told me what a nice place it is! 🙂
